📢Calling all water technology companies!📢
WaterStart, in partnership with the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development, the NSF Futures Engine in the Southwest, and the Desert Research Institute, has opened RFP 27 and is seeking solutions for three water priorities:
💧 Alternative water treatment approaches to pressure-driven membranes that remove multiple constituents, including salinity, organic carbon, and contaminants of concern (i.e., PFAS) for potable reuse applications.
💧 Advanced leak detection and containment solutions for commercial applications.
💧Next-generation, high efficiency cooling alternatives.
Shortlisted companies may be invited to participate in WaterStart’s Pilot Program, whereby we co-fund trials with our Partners to test and validate technology solutions. A funding opportunity is awarded on a competitive basis but not guaranteed. Funding assistance for a project can range from $15,000 to $100,000.
The deadline to submit is Friday, November 7, 2025.
If you are a start-up, early-stage, or established company that is ready to prove your ability to scale, please apply!

When initiated by our partners, WaterStart will publish a Request for Proposal. Through this RFP process, WaterStart will solicit timely, collaborative, and unique applications from water technology companies that have potential solutions to our partner's technology priorities. Shortlisted companies will be invited to participate in our Pilot Program, whereby we co-fund trials with our partners to test and validate their solutions. In turn, this helps to derisk innovation, assists technology companies seeking to enter the market, and incentivizes further deployment among end users.
WaterStart can offer project funding that can be used towards technical evaluation and business development. However, this funding is contingent upon the companies committing to reinvesting a portion of their commercial revenue, generated from the supported technologies, back into the state of Nevada. This reinvestment can take the form of creating employment opportunities within the state or making other types of investments that benefit Nevada's economy.
All RFPs are managed in H2O TechConnect, WaterStart's knowledge sharing platform.
