Introducing WaterWise

Wave Blue

Introduction

WaterStart, through the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development, is collaborating with SRI International to engage stakeholders throughout Nevada and collect diverse perspectives and input toward the development of a water-wise economic framework.  This framework will help align economic development and water resource incentives and policies, and ultimately inform future policy recommendations that will enable Nevada to continue sustainable growth into the future.

What is WaterWise?

Why are we doing this?

A successful water-wise economy must consider the impacts on water resources while also ensuring the appropriate incentives are in place to continue attracting target industries. In doing so, Nevada will:

The four keys to a successful water-wise economy: Expand water conservation, Enable sustainable growth, Increase water data availability to make informed policy recommendations, Provide a consistent platform for economic development decision-making, and Protect Nevada’s reputation for continued investment

The most recent State Economic Development Annual Report (2022) can be found via GOED here.

We have initiated stakeholder engagement on this initiative. If your organization has not received an invitation and you feel you should have a voice in this process, please email waterwise@waterstart.com.
