Smart Air Valves for Rising Mains

WaterStart member manages a significant number of rising main air valves and currently does not have a sustainable way of maintaining them and/or understanding their operational performance. Currently, the only way to know if the asset is working correctly is through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules or reports of failure. For this reason, our member is seeking a smart solution for the monitoring operation and performance in Rising mains.

The ideal solution may be retrofittable or valve replacement, capable of generating alerts in the event of valve failure. Solution should be cost-effective in order to be deployed at a large scale. Please note, sites of interest do not have power or telecommunications.

Smart monitoring of sludge blanket levels in the wastewater system

WaterStart member is seeking an intelligent solution to assist with the proactive monitoring of sludge blanket levels in the wastewater system. This technology would greatly assist with the management of risks associated with blanket loss and how fluctuating levels can impact site performance and compliance. For this reason, the ideal system should be retrofittable and provide integrated, detailed reports on sludge blanket levels in real-near time. Analytic capabilities would also be of added value.

Consolidation of asset and process data across the wastewater network

WaterStart member is seeking a solution to assist with the consolidation of extensive asset and process data across the wastewater network. The ideal solution would utilize Machine Learning (ML) and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to providing a holistic view of asset health and effectiveness; assist with the prioritization of maintenance and avoidance of critical failure. Solution should be appropriately designed to be scaled to enterprise level with a support structure to suit.

Treatment of Microplastics in wastewater

WaterStart member is seeking an innovative system/methodology that can detect and reduce (ideally remove) the concentrations of Microplastics in wastewater.

The solution must be cost-effective, safe, and scalable within current treatment parameters. Keeping with the environmental standard (Australian), the ideal solution would also support existing circular economy initiatives among end-users and partnering utilities.

Treatment of PFAS in wastewater

WaterStart member is seeking an innovative system/methodology that can detect and reduce (ideally remove) the concentrations of PFAS in the wastewater, particularly in sludge/biosolids.

The solution must be cost-effective, safe, and scalable within current treatment parameters. Keeping with the environmental standard (Australian), the ideal solution would also support existing circular economy initiatives among end-users and partnering utilities.

Automated dosing in sewage treatment for septicity

WaterStart member is seeking a technology that can automate the process of chemical dosing to allow for the accurate and optimized control of chemical use during sewerage treatment against septicity. 

The ideal system should be robust, safe, easy to install and maintain. A system should have data logging capabilities to record events and must also be able to integrate and/or retrofit with existing systems.
