The event, which took place at the tail-end of the 2017 WaterSmart Innovations Conference, was centered around the theme of the ?Case for Innovation.? Speakers and panel sessions highlighted the positive impacts of adopting innovation, debated the challenges and opportunities for funding innovation and explored the various partnerships technology companies have taken part in to further their commercialization efforts.
Guests listened to keynote speaker David B. LaFrance, CEO of the American Water Works Association, the world?s largest and oldest association of water professionals with 43 sections throughout North America and more than 50,000 members worldwide. LaFrance presented a foundation of why innovation is so critical for the water industry.
A Technology Showcase highlighted the innovative technologies getting a head start in the water sector through WaterStart. Those who presented case studies were RedEye, the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Syrinix, Riventa, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Utilis and American Water.
Additionally, a special Tech Speed Pitch culminated the event, provided a speed-dating opportunity for companies to showcase their technology and pitch to water management agencies, potential customers and end users.
This year?s Channels for Innovation Summit was sponsored by the Nevada Mining Association. Event partners included the Southern Nevada Water Authority, WaterSmart Innovations and the Desert Research Institute.
