 | WATERSTART NEWS

On Friday, Oct. 6, approximately 150 guests attended the second-annual Channels for Innovation Summit at the South Point Hotel and Casino, presented by WaterStart and Isle Utilities.

The event, which took place at the tail-end of the 2017 WaterSmart Innovations Conference, was centered around the theme of the “Case for Innovation.” Speakers and panel sessions highlighted the positive impacts of adopting innovation, debated the challenges and opportunities for funding innovation and explored the various partnerships technology companies have taken part in to further their commercialization efforts.

Guests listened to keynote speaker David B. LaFrance, CEO of the American Water Works Association, the world’s largest and oldest association of water professionals with 43 sections throughout North America and more than 50,000 members worldwide. LaFrance presented a foundation of why innovation is so critical for the water industry.

A Technology Showcase highlighted the innovative technologies getting a head start in the water sector through WaterStart. Those who presented case studies were RedEye, the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Syrinix, Riventa, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, Utilis and American Water.

Additionally, a special Tech Speed Pitch culminated the event, provided a speed-dating opportunity for companies to showcase their technology and pitch to water management agencies, potential customers and end users.

This year’s Channels for Innovation Summit was sponsored by the Nevada Mining Association. Event partners included the Southern Nevada Water Authority, WaterSmart Innovations and the Desert Research Institute.

WaterStart Statement and Update on Channels for Innovation Summit This Friday

 | WATERSTART NEWS

The entire WaterStart team is deeply saddened by the tragic events of last night. Our thoughts and prayers go out the families and friends who lost their lives and the many affected by this act of violence.

As we mourn, we commend the bravery of the medical professionals and law enforcement agents in response, as well as the overwhelming efforts by the people of Las Vegas standing together to help one another through this difficult time. These heroic efforts that we will never forget represent the true character of this community.

We know that there remains a tremendous amount of work to do and much time before we can begin to regain a sense of normalcy in our community. To aid in those efforts in our own small way, we plan to continue with the Channels for Innovation Summit as planned this Friday.

In many ways, we consider you all members of the WaterStart family. Together, even in the darkest of times, we hope to have some of the good that exist in this community shine through at this event.

On behalf of the WaterStart team – I look forward to seeing you there.
